Airport Do's and Don'ts

Okay I know most people just want to be comfortable when traveling, which is the most important thing, BUT there is a difference between comfort and just plain sloppy. So let me break it down for you...

The Do's - Cameron, Vanessa and Ashley nailed the comfortable yet stylish airport look. Jeans are a given. They are comfortable and won't wrinkle easily. Sneakers and flats are the best shoes to wear to get through security without a lot of hassle. Stick with easy tees and sweaters and always bring a jacket you know it's gonna be cold on the plane.

The Don'ts - A skirt, really? Never wear a skirt when traveling on a plane. You will always be worrying about sitting properly in your seat to avoid flashing your neighbor. Stick with pants.

And for the perfect example of looking sloppy we have Ashley Tisdale (top middle) looking like a homeless Indian. If it wasn't for the ugly over sized sweater I wouldn't have a problem with her ensemble. A jean jacket would look much better and would instantly give her a more polished look even though I think her shoes should be burned.

And last but not least Miss Kim K. You look super hott but leather is not comfortable especially when it's covering 2/3 of your body. I'd switch the boots for a pair of black flats but keep the leather jacket for the edgy look.

Hot Items of the Week

I recently purchased a few new makeup items that I must share because they are awesome!

#1 M.A.C Paint Pot in Groundwork $16.50. Why I never tried this before I do not know! It's easy to apply, lasts all day and looks great with my skintone. All you need is a little eye liner and mascara and your makeup is done. It comes in like 6 or 7 different colors so head to M.A.C. immediately and buy one in your favorite shade.

#2 Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Amused $25. Pink cheeks are in this Spring and I'm not just talking about the after effects of a bikini wax...This blush is very pigmented so a little goes a long way. It's a little on the pricier side for a blush but you'll use it everyday and it'll last all summer long.

#3 Real Techniques by Samantha Chapman Brushes ($8-$16). I don't care which makeup brushes you swear by they are garbage compared to these. Hitting Ulta stores TODAY this brush line created by Samantha Chapman (my favorite makeup artist of all time) has made me rethink all the money I ever spent on my M.A.C brushes. Affordable and easy to use you must try these brushes for yourself!

Look for Less: Chloe Handbag

And I'm in LOVE! This Chloe bag Reese was spotted with is absolutely gorgeous. The soft tan leather is a great color for Spring/Summer and the satchel style flap is very trendy right now. So of course I have to look up this bag because I want it immediately. Well this is the Chloe Marcie Large leather tote available at Net-A-Porter for a measly $1,850...I don't think so. So began my search for a look-a-like and here's what I found.

This Laura Buckle Hobo available at HandbagHeaven.com for $59 is pretty close to the real thing. It may not be perfect but it will satisfy anyone wanting to match Reese's style.

Pop of Color

Still clinging to that boring boyfriend blazer from last season? It's time to upgrade. Take a tip from Jessica Simpson and try a bright, bold jacket to liven up your outfit. A black blazer will always be in style but why not change it up for Spring with something unexpected. You can try out Jessica's version made by Jessica Bruno for $670 or you can give your bank account a breather and try this J.Crew Cropped Silk Blazer for $155.

Whether it's a blazer, a great pair of heels or a statement necklace, everyone should have a go to piece that can add a pop of color to any neutral outfit. Happy shopping!

BIG NEWS!!

I am sooooo excited to announce that my favorite You Tube sensation, Samantha Chapman, is launching her own brand of makeup brushes at ULTA! I have been watching Samantha and her sister Nic's makeup tutorials for over a year now so I am thrilled to be able to purchase something from these talented sisters.

The brushes will hit ULTA stores on March 29th. I do not yet know the price but Samantha stated they are affordable. The really ingenious thing is the brushes are color coded by the type of application. For example, all your base brushes (foundation, concealer) are yellow, eye shadow brushes are purple and finishing brushes (blushers, bronzers) are pink. This is great for any beginners out there. I'll post more info as soon I hear anything!

Check out Samantha and Nic on You Tube.

Living on the Wedge

Nothing says Spring like a great pair of wedges. These Stuart Weitzman shoes are to die for and I cannot wait for mine to come in! Jennifer Aniston lives in her "Alex" wedges and no wonder they look fantastic with every outfit. They retail for $365 at most high end department stores. These Weitzman wedges are a little on the high end but Steve Madden created a look-a-like that's in stores now for only $79. I believe they are called the Fantastik Wedges. Check out these other great options available at Piperlime.com now!
Libby Edelman "Rose" Wedge $79
Tinley Road "Capri" Wedge $55
Cynthia Vincent "Ludlow" $295

Summer Shades

Sorry I've been MIA for a while but I had surgery last week and I've just been sleeping around the clock and being a complete bum. Well it's time to get back to the real world and that includes my blog. So with the weather warming up, everyone is spending more time outside and what does everyone need when in the sun...a great pair of sunglasses! Here's a breakdown of some chic shades that are right on trend for Spring.

These shades are really fun and flirty. Mandy Moore is wearing Thierry Lasry - Lively shades with a colorful, patterned frame. They're sort of a combination of the classic ray-ban's and the cat eye silhouette. Super cute, super fun!

The classic Aviator. Timeless, chic and looks good on everyone. Minka Kelly is wearing Ray-Ban's model RB 3025 (same as me!). You can't go wrong with a pair of aviators with so many different colors, lens shades there's definitely a version that will suit your taste.

Kim K looks amazing in these Tom Ford - Callae shades. Very on trend for Spring with a 70's flair and oversized gradient lens. Definitely a must have!

These Chloe shades Kate Hudson is wearing are great for everyday. The shape is very flattering on most face shapes and the chocolate brown color will compliment any summer tan.

Black Out: Part 2

My first "Black Out" post was about wearing head to toe black. This post is all about the most important item in my makeup bag...black eyeliner. And who wears black eyeliner better than Mila Kunis? No One! With so many to choose from I thought I'd make it easy and list the top products (in my opinion) OF ALL TIME! Here we go...

#1 Estee Lauder Double Wear Eye Pencil $19
Lasts all day and comes with a smudge brush on the opposite end to create the perfect smokey eye. I also love the bronze color if black is to harsh a look for you.

#2 Clinique Gel Liner $15
Unlike the MAC version of this product, Clinique's does not dry out. MAC Gel Liner is a great product as far as lastability but it dries out too fast in the container which makes it too hard to apply. Clinique's version is cheaper and easier to apply.

#3 MAC Eye Kohl in Smoulder $14.50
This eye pencil is great for blending because of its super soft formula. I wouldn't use it on the inner rims of eyes because it doesn't stay. Kohl pencils are not made for your waterline because they are very sensitive to water and will run. Use this over your gel liner to darken and then smudge with a brush for a softer look.

Some other honorable mentions, Bobbi Brown Gel Liner and Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Pencil.
