So I finally broke down and fed into the feather extension trend. At first I thought it was kind of silly looking and a desperate attempt to copy Steven Tyler. So my sister got a few put in the other day and I was actually impressed at how they came out so I decided I would indulge in some feathers for Heather. Now before you go and try this new trend I have some tips...
Tip #1 Go for a natural look. I have light brown hair so I chose feathers in shades of brown, black and a yellowish cream. Fight the urge for the hot pink and lime green. Although they are a fun look for a night out, I don't think your boss would appreciate you showing up at work everyday with pink and green feathers in your hair. My boss would think it's cool but not everyone is the same way.
Tip #2 Don't overdue it. 2 or 3 feathers will suffice but any more than 5 and your gonna look like a bird. And you'll get stares from people and not in a good way.
Tip #3 Choose the right spot for application. Your stylist should have a good suggestion but placement is key. Most people get them applied behind the ear if you have long hair. Others apply them close to your part towards your face. If you part your hair to the right, apply them on the left and vice versa.
Tip #4 DIY: If you're not down for paying $10 a feather for a professional to apply, buy the feathers yourself. Famous Feathers online sells all you need to create the look. Most sets are $9.99. I bought 6 large grizzly feathers on Etsy for $9.50 and they came with 3 beads and a loop. All you need is a pair of needle nose pliers and you're ready to go!

UH-MAZING!
This was so worth waking up at 5 am to see. I really wish I would have placed a bet on what Catherine's dress would look like because I would have nailed it! My guess was her dress would reminisce Grace Kelly's wedding dress to Prince Rainier in 1956, lots of lace, long sleeves and a full skirt. Well I'd say Catherine's McQueen creation was definitely a modern day version of the Princess of Monaco's original version. If only Alexander McQueen could have been here today to see his legacy live on.
I have to say I was surprised to see the Alexander McQueen dress Pippa, Kate's sister, wore to the royal wedding. White was a questionable choice but you know it works. I absolutely love the silhouette and the simplicity of the design. The little lace details and button down back are just perfect. Although, I wasn't as impressed with Pippa's second dress choice for the reception (see below).
Kind of a let down after the bridesmaid dress. Oh well guess she should have gone with another McQueen design. Besides the gorgeous gowns, there was definitely not a shortage of hats among the guests but that will have to be another entry for another day...

Look for Less: Chloe Handbag Part 2
So I already blogged about how obsessed I am with the Chloe Marcie Handbag and I showed a look for less. Well wait til you see this! I recently had a religious experience in the handbag section at Dillards. I was wandering around looking for a new bag when the heavens above opened and shown down a bright light onto the most beautiful tan, leather bag I've ever seen! The smell of leather filled the air and the beautiful tan bag in front of me felt just like buttah. Even though it's still not the Chloe bag I long for, it definitely satisfies my craving and my budget! And hey I found a new favorite handbag designer, Patricia Nash.

All Over Prints
Happy Easter everyone! Tomorrow people will gather with their families, eat some good food and hopefully go to church. Church on Easter Sunday is what I like to call a fashion show for God. Okay that's probably bad to say but second to God the one thing on everyone's mind is what they're going to wear.
I'm sure everyone has their Easter dresses all ready for tomorrow so I wanted to show some great printed dresses for all your Summer events. Any of these choices can be worn to a wedding, BBQ, cocktail party or even just a family gathering. This is the time of year to experiment with color, so be bold and rock a great print!

Shrine to Zoe
I was watching a Rachel Zoe Project marathon the other day and started to go through withdrawals for new episodes! So to hopefully calm my anxiety for new Zoe I wanted to post some memorable fashion moments of the one and only Mrs. Rachel Zoe.
A fur vest, enormous sunglasses, wide-leg jeans and some seriously high heels! Yep that's why we love her. Oh and did I mention that fabulous Alexander McQueen bag...me likey!

The Denim Jacket

The denim jacket is not dead people! I've been wearing the same GAP denim jacket for probably 3 years now and I just can't bring myself to get rid of it. And it's not because it fits perfectly and has that great worn in feel, it's because a denim jacket will always be in style.
The denim jacket was huge in the 80's but that acid washed, over dyed trend has been completely updated for todays modern woman. Kourtney, Kim and Khloe Kardashian show 3 great ways to wear a denim jacket.
Kourtney keeps it casual in a Seven For All Mankind denim jacket and flats, Kim's outfit is a little edgier with the ankle boots but her Current/Elliott denim jacket keeps the look casual for daytime and could easily be removed for a night out. Khloe is wearing the same Current/Elliott jacket but has paired hers over a maxi dress for an instant update. Maxi dresses can sometime look too beachy but for a day of shopping a denim jacket easily takes it from the beach to the boulevard.
If you are looking for a great, affordable denim jacket for your wardrobe try Levis, GAP or J.Crew.
